Don’t fancy cooking? take a walk down to the local pub ‘The Wainhouse Inn’ (approx. 1.4mile). A lovely traditional Cornish pub with great food, friendly atmosphere and roaring open fires.
After your journey if you need to stretch your legs and would like take a look around, try the Jacobstow – Poulza circular walk.
Jacobstow – Poulza
From Cottage Barn a 3.4mile easy/moderate circular walk around the Saxon area where an ancient medieval altar was removed from the church during the 16th century. It was then used as a footbridge over a stream and a churchyard seat during Victorian times before finally returning to the church in the 1970’s. This walk takes in the stunning countryside and rural life in Cornwall.
Day 2
Crackington Haven
3.5 mile circular walk from Crackington Haven via the Strangles. Park up at Crackington Haven and join the coastal path. The walk follows the path to the headland at Cambeak, passing Brays Point and Tremoutha Haven. Continuing past Little Strand and the Strangles towards High Cliff before climbing the hill and into the wooded valley. The return route follows the river along the valley through East Wood, back to Crackington Haven.
Car Parking is available at Crackington Haven.
Finish your walk by sampling some local ales, menu includes fantastic local produce along with stunning views over Crackington Haven Bay at ‘The Coombe Barton’.
Day 3
Rocky Valley
3.7 mile circular walk – Rocky Valley
One of the Coast Path’s most magical walks. At St Nectan’s Kieve the River Trevillet plunges down a 60-foot waterfall with such force that it has carved a series of basins in the rock. From here it flows through St Nectan’s Glen and on past the ruins of a medieval mill, where the carvings on the rock-face are said to be almost 4000 years old. On the last leg of its journey to the sea it tumbles and splashes through the deep canyon it has sculpted through a breathtakingly beautiful wilderness. As a bonus there is St Piran’s Well, where the patron saint of Cornish miners is said to have fallen to his death, at the age of 200, after too much to drink.
Thinking of a drink and a bite to eat after your walk, try ‘The Napoleon Inn’ in Boscastle. A truly traditional Inn serving Ale straight from the barrel.
Day 4
Bude
Check out of Cottage Barn at 10am.
Visit the beautiful town of Bude, chance to pick up a few souvenirs and gifts to remember your stay.
Bude is also blessed with some of the finest sandy beaches Britain has to offer, enjoy a 2.1 mile leisurely amble between two sandy beaches on good paths with fantastic sea views. The cliffs around this walk are also important resting & feeding sites from migratory birds coming across the Atlantic.
Travel home with some fantastic memories and inspiration to explore this beautiful coastal path further. There’s 630 miles so still plenty to see!!
